Calling all Orchestral String students – Don’t miss your chance to receive a £2000 Scholarship from the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe.

07/10/2009 [About Yamaha]

In 1990 the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe was set up to assist talented young musicians, throughout Europe, with the cost of musical education at Conservatoire and University level. The scholarships are made available to different disciplines each year, rotating between piano, percussion, voice, brass and woodwind and for 2010, orchestral strings.

This is the 21st YMFE scholarship and will be celebrated with three awards of £2000 to be awarded to full-time UK and International students of orchestral strings, studying in the UK and one award of £2000 for students studying in the Republic of Ireland.

The initial round will be judged from submitted CD recordings (closing date Monday 30th November 2009) where those selected will progress to the live final at the Royal College of Music, London for UK finalists and for ROI finalists, Piano Plus, Dublin. Both finals will take place at the beginning of February 2010.

To be eligible for entry in to this competition, applications must be received no later than the 30th November. Application forms can be downloaded from this page. For UK entry you must be a student of Orchestral Strings on a full-time course at a UK institute of Higher Education born after 1st January 1985. For entry into the Republic of Ireland scholarships you must be enrolled on a full-time course at an R.O.I. institute of Higher Education, born after 1st January 1985.
