Dave Weckl was in the UK in November to launch Yamaha’s new ultra High-end kit – The unique and groundbreaking PHX Phoenix kit. Three sold out clinics showcased the drums in the best way possible…a chance to get up close and personal with one of the world’s greatest drummers.
Dave Weckl came for a flying visit to the UK, performing clinics in Glasgow, Manchester and Brighton where over 1200 people saw the Phoenix for the first time.
Dave was using an Ash kit in Textured Black Sunburst finish with Chrome Hardware.
Dave’s kit comprised: 22" x 18" Bass Drum, 10" x 7" Tom, 12" x 8" Tom, 14" x 13" Floor Tom, and 16" x 15" Floor Tom.
Also on the spec were his signature 13” and 14” snare drums and the brand new Hex Rack.
The kit sounded fantastic as the drums were mic’d minimally to allow as of much the drums unique tones to reverberate and fill the venue. Dave loves these drums, and is waiting for one to be delivered right now. He says “The kit I have been playing in the UK is the same as the one I am getting. I just can’t wait to get them in my studio as I have some great work lined up for them already!”
The clinic comprised of an hour and half of playing as well as an in depth question and answer session about Dave’s career and the new Phoenix drums. As if that wasn’t enough there were also aftershow signing sessions!
