Yamaha artist Jamie Cullum has already been nominated for a Golden Globe award in the best song category for his composition on the soundtrack of Gran Torino, the eagerly awaited Clint Eastwood film.
When moviemakers wanted Jamie to film a trailer for the movie in London's Cobden Club at very short notice he called his friends at Yamaha straight away and a Yamaha C3 grand was installed on location and Jamie duly performed the nominated song for the film promo.
Gran Torino is directed by, and stars Clint Eastwood and when Clint got to thinking about music soundtracks he called on Jamie to assist. Jamie then visited Clint and composed the song (on another Yamaha Piano) in his Bel Air residence in the company of the great man himself! Global interest in Gran Torino is expected to be huge on release as it's been confirmed by Clint Eastwood that it's the last film he will be acting in. The Eastwood connection with Jamie Cullum doesn't stop at Gran Torino, Jamie received his first Golden Globe nomination in 2007 for his song on Grace is Gone, another Eastwood film.
Jamie Cullum told Round Up: “yet again, Yamaha to the rescue, I wrote the song on a Yamaha, shot the video on a Yamaha and will be touring with my own Yamaha – you know why I love Yamaha? Not only do they make great sounding pianos, they're great people too.”
