The fourth season of the popular Yamaha International Piano series debuts at Malvern Theatres on Saturday 22nd October 2011 with a recital by international sensation HJ Lim, already acknowledged as one of the world's most promising young pianists.

HJ Lim will perform works by Ravel, Chopin, Rachmaninov and Liszt for this opening recital that has been programmed and timed to celebrate Liszt's 200th birthday which also occurs on October 22nd.

The fourth season of the series also features  performances by Stephen Kovacevich on 2nd December and François-Frédéric Guy on 3rd February 2012. The season culminates on 2nd March 2012 with a performance by Paul Lewis.

HJ Lim will be playing Yamaha's acclaimed new CFX concert grand piano and Yamaha’s Kumi Liley comments, “We are absolutely thrilled with the ongoing success of the Yamaha International Piano Series and our partnership with Malvern Theatres. The recitals allow us to showcase our CFX concert grand in the hands of some of the world’s finest pianists."

One of Korea’s best kept secrets, HJ Lim redefines both the musical and physical boundaries of modern pianism. In November 2009, HJ Lim exploded onto the international music scene when a recital at the Stadtcasino Basel, which included Rachmaninov’s complete Etudes-Tableauxand Chopin’s complete Etudes, was uploaded to YouTube. The unprecedented online traffic which followed awoke a technologically lazy industry to the realisation that classical music audiences are now very much online – and HJ Lim has captured their imagination.

HJ's current season includes performances at the Stadtcasino Basel, Sala Verdi in Milan, Festival de Moulin d’Andé, Schloss Mirabell Festival in Salzburg, European Festival of Classical Music in Napoli, Bayreuth Easter Festival, De Rode Pomp Festival in Gent, and the Festival Kamermuziek in Houtland.

Malvern Theatres marketing director Fred Moroni said, “Malvern Theatres is once again grateful to Yamaha for its support, which has helped secure a distinguished line up of internationally renowned pianists. We sincerely hope this wonderful partnership with Yamaha will continue to bring the very best pianists here for many years to come.”
