Legendary progressive Rock band 'Supertramp' are celebrating 40 years since the release of their first album 'Supertramp' in 1970. The band went onto global superstardom and became one of the most popular groups of their generation enjoying both popular and critical acclaim.
To mark this milestone the band have announced dates for the eagerly awaited '70-10' Tour taking in thirty-seven shows throughout Europe between September and October.
Founder member, Yamaha Piano fan and lead singer Rick Davies has selected a Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand piano for the tour. Rick contacted his former piano technician Trevor Lowe who is now working for Yamaha pianos in the UK who recommended the model.
Rick Davies comments on his Yamaha pianos " I have two Yamaha pianos in my New York home , a CFIIIS in my studio and a seven foot C7 in our living room. It was great that Yamaha could provide me with a piano over here in Europe and Trevor knew exactly what I needed."
Rick Davies is collaborating closely with world renowned set and lighting designer Michael Brian Duncan on a new stage production of epic proportions that promises a stunning audio visual 'Supertramp' experience that will see the band performing classic songs from their forty year history.
Joining Rick on tour are John Anthony Helliwell on sax and woodwinds and Bob Siebenberg on drums, all backed by other veterans of former 'Supertramp' tours including Jesse Siebenberg on lead vocals, guitars and percussion and Cliff Hugo on bass . Carl Verheyen on guitars and Lee Thornburg on horns, together with 'newcomers' Gabe Dixon on keyboards and backing vocalist Cassie Miller complete the formidable line-up.
