Voice Editing.
The Voice is the fundamental building block of all things XS. By understanding the sound engine, effects, arpeggiators, controllers and then creating your own voice from scratch, you'll already be halfway to mastering the power of XS.
Performance Mode.
The Performance Mode - multi-voice programs have always been a big part of the MOTIF legacy but on the XS they are more infectious and influential than ever before. You'll learn what makes these Performances so powerful by creating your own from scratch and also discover how to tweak existing patches to create a tailored masterpiece.
Understanding XS Effects.
The Effects inside the MOTIF XS are more powerful and versatile than ever before. Through explanation and demonstration you'll quickly understand what is meant by VCM effects, how to set-up a Vocoder effect, and how to apply System and Master effects across any sound on the XS.
Sampling Basics.
Sampling is something that has always been available throughout the history of MOTIF and other workstations, but is an area often overlooked due to a lack of understanding about how it works. Through demonstration we'll break down the barriers of Sampling on the XS and leave you equipped with the knowledge to push your creativity into new realms.
Controller Assignment.
XS is well equipped with Physical Controllers, but choosing the right one for the job can be tricky. We will discuss the various Controllers available to you and also offer a few handy hints on where and when to use them for maximum effect.
Cubase Integration.
The MOTIF XS hooked up to your computer unlocks a cavern of new possibilities especially when using it alongside Steinberg Cubase software. You'll learn how to integrate the XS into Cubase as a virtual instrument, take control of your DAW from your XS, and for those with the mLAN16E2 card, we'll look at using the XS as an audio interface and an external effect processor.
Secrets of the Sequencer.
Even in today's software-dominated world of recording, a hardware sequencer has plenty to offer and the MOTIF XS is more than well equipped in this area with its Pattern and Song sequencer. We'll show you how to take full advantage of this feature covering the basics of how to capture a simple idea in seconds right through to creating a fully controllable 16-track sequence.
