A Yamaha CFIIIS was specified for the inaugural Live Grammy Nominations Concert which saw British artists, including Coldplay, Adele and Duffy dominating.
The Grammys are without doubt one of the global music industry's biggest and star-studded events and the one-hour TV special was broadcast live on CBS from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The event starred former Grammy winners and nominees performing songs from the Grammy Hall of Fame in celebration of the grand opening of the Grammy Museum. Double Grammy LL Cool J and nominee Taylor Swift co-hosted the telecast which included performances from Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and the Foo Fighters.
This selection follows success Yamaha Percussion artist Dave Samuels and his group, ‘The Caribbean Jazz Project’, at the 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. The group were awarded the Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album for Afro Bop Alliance. This was the groups second Latin Grammy following their triumph at the 2003 awards.
Senior Director at Yamaha Music UK, Mike Ketley, comments "the selection of a Yamaha CFIIIS by the promoters of the Grammy awards provides yet another global profile and platform for Yamaha and follows a number of high-profile appearances by our pianos including the recent selection of an S6 piano by Buckingham Palace for a recital given by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. We are seeing an increase in requests for our handcrafted pianos for huge events such as this and in turn these events provide invaluable PR for the quality of our instruments."
The 51st Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Grammy Sunday, February 8th 2009 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
