Yamaha’s new PDX50 “Air-wired” iPod speaker system has just received a 5 star review from What Hi-Fi, the world’s No.1 home entertainment magazine. The review can be seen on their home page at http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Yamaha-PDX-50/.

The review heralds a promising start for the company’s DTA (Desktop Audio) range aimed at the generation of iPod users.

As part of the new 'Desktop Audio' range the PDX50 uses Yamaha’s unique AirWired technology which delivers a lossless and instant wireless connection sending digital audio to a compact speaker unit, creating a top-class sound system for enjoying your iPod or iPhone music library.

Unlike Bluetooth systems, no pairing is necessary, just activate the iPod for a wireless connection. When the iPod is turned on and off the speaker unit turns on and off. The speaker volume maybe adjusted using the iPod volume control.

The little speaker system makes a very strong case for itself with a very impressive musical performance. What Hi-Fi commented ”Wireless music so often falls short of expectations, but the PDX-50 really delivers.”

What Hi-Fi sights the unit’s strengths as being it’s lossless wireless transmission, a great sounding dock and it’s sensibly small transmitter. The review concludes by saying, “By the standard of iPod docks the Yamaha PDX-50 is very good, while by the standard of wireless products it's very impressive indeed.”
