For all music lovers, Yamaha is presenting a real treat: piano professor and musical mastermind, Philip Jenkins, will be giving a piano masterclass featuring select piano students… and for the audience, Yamaha is opening it up to the public!
On Sunday 26th April, starting at 10AM, Philip will show a handful of talented piano students the ropes and unlock the magic of a fantastic repertoire of music. These students, selected by Milton Keynes Music Service, will join Philip on stage to play their hearts out on a Yamaha CFIIIS Concert Grand Piano that is sure to inspire, inform and entertain the live audience. Admission to the masterclass is free and beckons discerning music lovers to take advantage of this unique opportunity.
Philip Jenkins has taught as Head of Keyboard at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and as Professor of Piano at the Royal Academy of Music. In his current post, teaching at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Philip works tirelessly to nurture some of the world’s most promising piano talents.
Yamaha has arranged the masterclass as a prequel to the evening’s Classic Foundations Concert featuring award winning and acclaimed pianist Marina Nadiradze who will perform using the Yamaha CFIIIS Concert Grand Piano later that day at 7.30pm, Milton Keynes Theatre; prior to which MK Music Service students will be performing in the theatre foyer from 6.30pm.
In an illustrious career, Philip Jenkins has played with world-renowned orchestras and conductors including Malcolm Arnold, Jean-Pierre Jacquillat, Bohdan Wohdizcko, Maurice Handford, and Pall Pamplicher Palsson, and has made recordings for labels such as Chandos, Saga, Gaudeamus and Merlin.
He has given masterclasses in St. Petersburg, New York, Amsterdam, Reykjavik, Thessaloniki, Oslo, Busan and Seoul as well as throughout Great Britain and has been a jury member at many national and international piano competitions. As one of Britain's most sought-after teachers, over his time Philip has taught numerous prize-winning pianists from around the world including Marina Nadiradze, Arta Arnicane, Anano Gokieli, Sinae Lee, Evgeny Morozov and Polina Kogan.
