The CPX900, like the APX900, utilizes Yamaha's A.R.T. (Acoustic Resonance Transducer) pickup system, which uses two additional sub pickups for controlling overtones and resonance.

APX series guitars are designed with a focus on playability. Their thin bodies and cutaways that provide greater access to the upper frets, offer smoother switching between electric and acoustic instruments. The FJX730SC and 720SC have both inherited quality features from our L Series like non-scalloped X bracing and a reverse L block neck attachment. The FJX730SC features an A.R.T. 1-way pickup system (System56) that faithfully reproduces the dynamic sound produced by its medium jumbo body. CJX series are the acoustic-electric version of the CJ series and utilize a two-way pickup system that combines an under bridge mounted piezo pickup with a condenser microphone mounted inside the body on the end of a flexible gooseneck.
