Jamie Cullum takes Yamaha CFX to BBC Proms 2016

Critically acclaimed Yamaha Artist Jamie Cullum recently chose the company’s flagship CFX concert grand piano for his high-profile performance at the prestigious BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.

Jamie, a long standing Yamaha Artist and brand ambassador, selected the instrument for the eagerly anticipated concert with The Heritage Orchestra and the Roundhouse Choir. A highlight of the 2016 season, this was the second time the hugely successful musician and composer had been invited to the world famous Proms, and whilst Jamie used a variety of instruments, the Yamaha CFX remained at the heart of the performance throughout.

With his unique approach to music making and arrangement, Jamie delivered an explosive and diverse set to the sell-out audience. The performance encapsulated the spirit of 'The Song Society’, Jamie’s own project, in which he creates fast-and-loose covers of some of his favourite tracks.

Founded in 1885 and held annually, The BBC Proms is an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral concerts held in London’s Royal Albert Hall. Comprising over 70 concerts, it is a highlight of the international classical and orchestral music calendar, attracting the finest musicians from around the world.

Of the Yamaha CFX, Jamie comments, "Having visited the Yamaha grand piano workshops, I truly understand how these instruments are built, by brilliantly skilled craftsmen and passionate musicians - I was struck that Yamaha pianos are made for artists by artists, and of course the CFX is a magnificent piano that suited the Royal Albert Hall perfectly as I expected”.
