YAMAHA MUSIC EUROPE SEEKING PIANO SCHOLARS FOR 2017


Yamaha Music have announced details of their 2017 Yamaha Music Foundation Piano Scholarship programme and are now seeking applications from piano students from the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Launched in 1989, the awards provide performance opportunities, support and financial assistance to talented music students throughout Europe and the Scholarship scheme has provided over 900 scholarships amounting to over €1 million since its inception.

The scholarships have an international reputation for showcasing the finest new classical music talent and boast particularly strong alumni, many of whom are now enjoying successful international careers.

Open to UK and Republic of Ireland students born after 1st January 1991 and currently studying on a full-time music course at a higher education institution.

There will be four prizes of €2000 awarded to the winning finalists (three in the UK and one in the Ireland). Candidates are required to submit unedited recordings of two contrasting works, from which ten finalists will be selected. The UK finalists will be invited to perform at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on 27th February 2017 and finalists from Ireland will be invited to perform at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin on 14th February 2017.
