Jean-Efflam Bavouzet chooses Yamaha CFX for new Mozart Concertos recording
Jean-Efflam Bavouzet continues his relationship with Yamaha’s CFX flagship concert grand piano with his latest and eagerly anticipated recording of Mozart piano Concertos with Gábor Takács-Nagy conducting his excellent Manchester Camerata on the Chandos label.
The new recording explores the year 1784, an extraordinarily prolific year in Mozart’s life, with two of the six concertos composed that year featured on the new CD. Three years earlier Mozart had left his home town of Salzburg to carve out a career as a composer and teacher in the Habsburg capital, Vienna. The two concertos on this latest recording are unusual in that both were written for other pianists, one for his pupil Barbara Ployer and KV456 almost certainly for Maria Theresia von Paradis, a blind pianist and composer who performed in London and Paris the same year.
Mozart’s compositions made a huge contribution to the art of the concerto and this recording see’s the Yamaha CFX perfectly complementing the ambitions of the composer, fully exploring complex textures, extraordinary dynamics and delivering sublime tonality.
This latest recording follows an earlier and brilliantly successful creative partnership with Bavouzet and Takács-Nagy recording Haydn’s music on Chandos 10808, for which Jean-Efflam also selected Yamaha CFX.
