Following a successful 2 year drum endorsement scheme with Ronnie Scott’s Jazz club, Yamaha Music Europe GmbH (UK) are pleased to announce that the new Recording Custom Drum series has been chosen as the new house kit for the prestigious London venue, Ronnie Scott’s; one of the world’s most famous jazz clubs, attracting full to bursting audiences practically every night.

Since the early days of Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie and Miles Davis, the club continues to present the biggest names in jazz including Wynton Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson and Kurt Elling, all of whom shun the concert halls in favour of the intimate and welcoming environs of the club. Ronnie Scott’s has become the place for music fans of all ages seeking jazz royalty in one of the world’s most stylish and famous jazz clubs.

Yamaha’s award winning Recording Custom Series are the new drums of choice. Originally launched in 1975 the Recording Custom series (or 9000 series as it was known then) has become an industry standard drum set admired by world leading drummers, engineers and studios around the world. Regarded as the most recorded drum set in history, the ‘All Birch’ design was instrumental in shaping the modern drum set, as we know it today. 40 years on and Yamaha have released a totally new design, having worked on a detailed 3 year R&D programme with legendary drummer Steve Gadd to enhance the character of the Drum Set and consider demands of Drummers today.

The new Yamaha Drums will also share the stage with the Yamaha CF6 Premium Grand Piano, an existing partnership that has been in place for nearly a decade since it was selected for Ronnie’s following an exhaustive evaluation process by the club's Musical Director James Pearson and acclaimed jazz pianist Tom Cawley. The instrument draws on Yamaha's exemplary heritage with musicians of the highest calibre

Gavin Thomas, Drums Product Marketing Manager explained, “It has been great working with everyone at the amazing Ronnie Scott’s. We are really proud of the new Recording Drums and I think it is a perfect setting for the world’s best Drummers to experience them for themselves.”

Miles Ashton, technical manager at Ronnie Scotts added, "In Ronnies, our house drums almost never get a night off. Our Yamaha drums have always sounded fantastic whoever plays them and after two years, all of the hardware feels as tight and robust as the day it arrived. The new Recording Custom Drums have gone down a storm so far and we are delighted that we are continuing to offer the Musicians playing at Ronnie’s and the audiences the best possible experience.”
