More about the Yamaha Class Band:

Being part of a Class Band means learning how to play a woodwind or brass instrument simultaneously with the rest of the class. Everybody will start from zero, so the initial situation is the same for all.

Every lesson is built up with breathing, posture and mouthpiece exercises, that are useful for all the players. The method that is being used, works (in the beginning) mainly in unison, in this case the ears will be trained from the start and the students will be able to study at home together with their friends, since they will play the same melodies.

The students will learn from the beginning to respond to a conductor and are immediately listening and cooperating with their section members and the rest of the class.

After one or two years of Class Band the students can continue in a youth orchestra or move to attending private music lessons on their chosen instrument.

More about the workshop:

The Yamaha Class Band team would like to invite music educators to a "Workshop and Find Out More Event" to demonstrate this highly effective and enjoyable way to deliver music in a class room situation.

During a Yamaha Class Band workshop the professional teachers will be playing on an instrument that is not familiar to them. This way (starting from zero) they will experience what the students will experience and therefore the workshop gives a good example of the joy and progression the students will make. The workshop gives an opportunity to experience a new and enjoyable way of teaching. Teaching a Class Band is rewarding and enjoyable for the teacher; the students are very motivated and love to be able to get music lessons together with their friends.
