Yamaha Group Selected in Prestigious "A List" for Climate Change by CDP for the Second Consecutive Year

Yamaha Corporation (hereinafter "Yamaha" or "the Company") has been recognized for leadership in corporate sustainability by CDP,*1 an international environmental non-profit organization, as a "CDP 2024 Climate Change A List" company for its proactive initiatives and transparency regarding climate change. This is the third time and the second consecutive year Yamaha is included in the A-list. In addition, the Company also received high ratings of A- in the areas of "Water Security" and "Forests," which were evaluated at the same time. This means that the Company has received a "Leadership Level" rating in all three areas of "Climate Change," "Water Security," and "Forests."

Each year, CDP researches the environmental impacts and associated business risks and opportunities of tens of thousands of companies around the world, and publishes the results through a proprietary assessment process. In 2024, more than 24,800 companies, representing over 66% of the world's total stock market capitalization, disclosed information through CDP, including over 2,100 Japanese companies, which account for more than 70% of the companies listed on the Prime Market.

Rapid climate change poses a major threat to humanity and to all life-forms on earth. Yamaha recognizes that helping combat this threat and contributing to the decarbonization of society are corporate responsibilities and important management issues. To realize "Well-Being of People around the World," Yamaha is engaged in initiatives aimed at achieving a sustainable society under the Group Environmental Policy, focusing on "Addressing to Climate Change," "Sustainable use of Wood," "Resource Conservation, Waste and Hazardous Substance Reduction," and "Water Resource Conservation."

Yamaha is committed to the set target of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, including along the value chain, and has set a medium-term goal of a 55% reduction in Scope 1+2*2 greenhouse gas emissions and a 30% reduction in Scope 3*2 emissions by fiscal year ending March 2031 compared to those recorded in the fiscal year ended March 2018 (SBTi-certified 1.5°C-aligned targets*3). Yamaha is also focusing on the preservation and restoration of ecosystems and is actively promoting the use of certified timber and other sustainability-conscious law materials. The Company will continue to steadily and consistently promote actions towards decarbonization and nature positivity in the future.
