In 2008, at the age of 12, Peter Moore became the youngest ever winner of the BBC Young Musician Competition. At the age of 18 he was appointed co-principal trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra and in 2015 joined the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist scheme. He has been nominated by the Barbican as a European Concert Halls Organisation Rising Star during the 2018/19 season.
Over the last two years Peter has appeared as soloist with the BBC Symphony, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Ulster Orchestra, Thailand Philharmonic, Barcelona Wind Symphony and Lucerne Symphony orchestras.
Concert highlights include recitals at Wigmore Hall (as soloist, and with Alison Balsom), the Barbican and Hay-on-Wye Festival. Further afield he has taken part in the BBC Proms in Melbourne Australia and given a recital at the Kumho Art Hall Yonsei in Seoul.
During the 2017/18 season Peter undertakes solo tours of China and Columbia, returns to Wigmore Hall and performs Takemitsu’s Fantasma Cantos II with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. He was selected by YCAT in 2014.
He is a Yamaha International Artist.
The Times / Wigmore Hall Alison Balsom Residency / October 2016:
Moore’s warm, slightly veiled tone was perfectly judged, and in the scherzo and adagio particularly, it decorously intertwined with Balsom’s trumpet, the combination of timbres intriguingly suggesting Brahm’s debt to Bach and Schütz.
Neue Luzerner Zeitung / Lucerne Symphony Orchestra / March 2016:
His richly varied trombone sound stood out. From sleek, glossy tones through an airy vibrato and wafting glissandi to a real, true brass sound. Neue Luzerner Zeitung / Lucerne Symphony Orchestra / March 2016
Gramophone CHAN 10627 March 2011:
...gloriously played with the abandon of youth by Peter Moore...breathtaking as played by Moore.
International Record Review CHAN 10627 January 2011
