Instrument designers and technicians from Yamaha Ateliers teamed up with renowned artists and launched an in-depth research and development programme aimed at creating an instrument that would give leading artists the elevated levels of musical expression and performance capability they need.
Taking even the finest details such as key layout and weight balance into full consideration, the development team redesigned and refined the instrument part by part, eventually reaching an extremely high level of performance in the YTS-82ZASP.
Features
62 shape
A traditional body shape is adopted, which makes the sound brighter and the playing feel lighter.
Integrated key posts
This style of key posts adds a moderate resistance and makes the instrument sound as you blow into it.
Adjustable teardrop Front F key
The unique teardrop-shaped F key improves playability. It is adjustable to players' preferences.
Mother of pearl key button
Mother of pearl is used for the key buttons. It improves playability by making the instrument easier to hold with a soft but non-slippery surface.
Metal resonator pad
The metal resonators offer an outstanding response and deliver a wider dynamic range. The entire range of the instrument has a clearer pronunciation, providing effortless playability all around.
Seesaw key
The left-hand seesaw key has been designed to increase playability as well as provide a more comfortable feel.
Two-point contact
Two-point contact is adopted for enhanced projection and a free-blowing response.
One-piece bell
Craftsmen shape the bell from a sheet of brass with a hammer. This adds a unity to the body and makes the intonation in middle to lower range smoother. It also has a solid tone.

Separate style key guard
The separate key guards feature adjustable screw cap stoppers for professional-style technical adjustments.
Improved low B-C# connection
An improved mechanism from low B-C# connection ensures the consistent closing of the low C# key and promotes a clear response from notes in the low range of the instrument.
