Our Artists
The lineup at Love Supreme this year is amazing! Yamaha artists Chick Corea, Jamie Cullum and Snarky Puppy are all set to perform across the weekend.
Chick Corea
An NEA Jazz Master, 22-time Grammy® winner, prolific composer and keyboard virtuoso, Chick Corea has attained living legend status after five decades of unparalleled creativity and an artistic output that is simply staggering.
From straight ahead to avant-garde,bebop to fusion, children’s songs to chamber music, along with some far-reaching forays into symphonic works, Chick has touched an astonishing number of musical bases in his illustrious career while maintaining a standard of excellence that is awe-inspiring.A tirelessly creative spirit, Chick continues to forge ahead, continually reinventing himself in the process.
Since embarking on a solo career in 1966, Chick has been at the forefront of jazz, both as a renowned pianist forging new ground with his acoustic jazz bands and as an innovative electric keyboardist with Return to Forever and the Elektric Band. His extensive discography boasts numerous essential albums, beginning with his 1968 classic, “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs”.
Jamie Cullum
Jamie is the most successful UK jazz artist of all time and effortlessly combines his hectic recording, writing and touring. Jamie's busy broadcasting career keeps him in the vanguard of emerging and established jazz musicians. Jamie is one of Yamaha's most high profile and prolific piano artists. He has worked closely with Yamaha on a wide range of powerful educational projects aimed at introducing people to his passion: the piano.
Jamie comments, “My favourite Yamaha piano is the S6. It has exactly the right size of sound for what I do. At times I am not a gentle player, and this piano holds its tuning very well throughout an entire gig. When necessary you can really caress the S6 and coax very gentle sounds out of it. When it needs to hold its own amongst the clatter of drums and guitars it sings out powerfully. I play one on stage and in the studio – it’s my perfect piano!”
Snarky Puppy Horns
Snarky Puppy, which just won its third Grammy in the last four years, is a 13-piece instrumental ensemble that plays an exciting and original blend of jazz, funk, R&B, and world music. Its horn section, which features Justin Stanton, Jay Jennings and Mike "Maz" Maher on trumpet, and Christopher Bullock on saxophone, is an integral part of the band's sound.
Snarky Puppy was started by bassist/composer Michael League back in 2004, along with some fellow musicians from the University of North Texas jazz program. After college, the band spent 10 years in relative anonymity, relentlessly touring and recording until finally breaking through on the national scene in 2014, winning a Grammy for Best R&B Performance for the song "Something" featuring vocalist Lalah Hathaway.
