Yamaha dspMixFx: Fast, Intuitive Operation

Optimised Workflow for Production and Streaming

All URX-C interfaces come equipped with a multi-stream audio driver that allows users to combine multiple audio sources from different software applications into their workflow simultaneously. This makes it easy to configure advanced setups for recording, mixing and monitoring, while assigning dedicated audio channels to each application, including Cubase, music players and voice chat tools. For example, during a remote lesson using Cubase, you can play back audio from Cubase while simultaneously engaging a voice chat app for clear, echo-free communication with your student. In addition, dspMixFx features not only a standard monitor mixer, but also a dedicated streaming mixer equipped with its own effect slots. This enables real-time mixing and processing of audio signals within a single application, not only to prepare your sound before recording, but also to adjust levels and make changes during live streaming.

Flexible Sonic Creation

URX-C series interfaces are equipped with high-quality DSP effects such as compression, EQ and reverb, that can be set via dspMixFX. This real-time audio processing delivers a near zero-latency signal that ensures the subtle nuances of your vocal or instrumental performances are captured faithfully and reliably for a professional recording and monitoring experience. The visually intuitive interface of the dspMixFx application features a layout designed for clear recognition of functions and a workflow that feels close to using a physical mixer, meaning even beginners can navigate the settings to realise their unique voice confidently and comfortably.

DSP-Powered Effects (including information on the Basic FX Suite)

Effects marked with an asterisk (*) are also included in the Basic FX Suite. The Basic FX Suite is the native version of high-quality effect plug-ins that run on the DSP built into the hardware. It can be used in compatible applications that support VST3, AU and AAX formats.

Input Channel Effects

Pitch Fix (Voice Changer)

The voice changer can be used in a wide spectrum of ways for creative, entertainment and practical purposes. You can creatively alter vocals in music production, enabling unique effects or for disguising singers, while it can add diversity to presentations or storytelling when used for voiceovers. For entertainment you can transform voices for characters in dubbing, animations and games. It also allows you to enjoy virtual streaming free from the real world, like avatar streaming or to achieve neutrality of gender and age in online gaming.

Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip *

Developed to deliver a highly musical result, the Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip combines a sidechain-enabled compressor and a three-band parametric equalizer. As its name suggests, the Morph Knob allows you to morph through both EQ and compression settings in combination, letting you quickly dial in the ideal sound with a single control. For more detailed changes, the sidechain EQ and each EQ band can be individually activated or deactivated, while there are also sidechain metering and a switchable spectrum display for the native version. Offering fast, easy setting of just the right combination of compression and EQ, the Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip brings the ideal amount of ear-friendly dynamics to your sound.

Guitar Amp Classics

The Guitar Amp Classics modeling effect plug-ins have been updated with a noise gate, helping you to avoid unnecessary sounds when you are not playing. Cabinet simulations have also been added to create a wider range of sonic possibilities. You can choose from a list of eight cabinet models and select either a centre or edge (on-axis or off-axis) mic position.

Clean *

Optimised for clean tones, this amp effectively simulates the tight brilliance of transistor amplifiers. Also featuring built-in chorus and vibrato, the tonal character of this model provides an ideal sonic foundation for recording with multi-effects.

Crunch *

This is the amp type to use when you want lightly overdriven crunch tones. It simulates the type of vintage tube amplifiers that are favoured for classic blues, rock, soul, R’n’B and similar styles.

Drive *

The DRIVE amp type provides a selection of distortion sounds that simulate the tonal character of high-gain tube amplifiers. From mildly overdriven crunch to heavy distortion suitable for hard rock, heavy metal or hardcore styles, this model offers a wide range of sonic opportunities. Six amplifier types are provided. Types 1 and 2 feature relatively mild distortion that allows natural nuances. Types 3 and 4 have more pronounced overtones, resulting in a fat, soft tone. Types 5 and 6 deliver wild, aggressive distortion with a tight attack. The even-numbered amp types have greater presence and range than the odd-numbered types.

Lead *

This amp type simulates a high gain tube amp that is rich in overtones. Ideally suited to playing lead guitar lines that will fit well within an ensemble mix, it can also be set up for crisp accompaniment tones, making it a very versatile emulation.

Streaming Mix Effects

Ducker

The ducker dynamically lowers the level of one audio signal based on the presence of another. Commonly used in broadcasting and music production, it automatically reduces the volume of one track when another track surpasses a set threshold, allowing the dominant signal to take precedence. For instance, it lowers background music when an announcer speaks, ensuring clear dialog. In music, it creates rhythmic effects by ducking the sound to synchronise with a beat or emphasise vocals over instruments, adding depth and clarity to the mix.

Compressor

Effortlessly enhance your audio with our user-friendly compressor, which is designed for seamless streaming. The intuitive interface ensures hassle-free operation, allowing you to improve your sound quality quickly and easily. Tailored specifically for streaming, this compressor optimises audio levels in real time, eliminating peaks and dips to deliver consistent, professional-grade audio. Use it to simplify your streaming setup, whether you're a novice or a seasoned streamer and take control of your audio with ease and precision.

Gate

The gate acts as a noise management tool, controlling unwanted sound by attenuating or muting signals below a set threshold.

Primarily used to eliminate background noise and hum in recordings, it closes the audio signal when it falls below the threshold, effectively muting softer or undesired sounds. This is especially useful when removing ambient noise between phrases or instrumentals, cleaning up the audio tracks for a more focused sound and enhancing the overall clarity.

Multi-Band Compressor

Having a multi-band compressor in the streaming mix enables you to closely sculpt the overall sound. It allows you to target compression on specific frequency bands, ensuring a balanced and controlled mix. By applying varying levels of compression to different frequency ranges, you can precisely manage the dynamics of the sound across the entire frequency spectrum and deliver a well-balanced sound to your audience.

Monitor Effects

Delay

The delay effect repeats an audio signal, playing a chosen number of repeats back after a delay time set by the user. It's a versatile tool used to create depth, spaciousness and unique sonic textures. In music, delays add ambiance, enriching vocals or instruments by producing echoes that can range from subtle reflections to pronounced repetitions. Beyond music, delay is used in audio post-production for spatial effects in movies or podcasts, enhancing soundscapes and providing an immersive experience by simulating distance or creating surreal, atmospheric qualities.

REV-X reverb *

The REV-X built into UR-C interfaces is a complex reverb algorithm, renowned for its high-density, richly reverberant sound quality, with smooth attenuation, spread and depth that work together to enhance the original, dry sound. Featuring three types of reverb effects, Hall, Room and Plate simulations, all include reverb time and level controls. REV-X is a truly classic reverb effect, perfect for bringing a professional sheen to every recording, with a range of presets to create your desired sound quickly.
