    The GrandTouch-E™ keyboard provides a real sense of responsiveness and complexity that changes with how it is played, much like a grand piano. The keys respond consistently, even when you play many notes at once.

    Like the keys, the pedals are parts of the interface between the player and the piano. ARIUS pianos have a damper pedal, a soft pedal, and a sostenuto pedal, just like grand pianos. The pedals can be used to sustain sounds as well as add depth and create crispness, putting a broader array of expression at your feet.

    The pedals are realistic-feeling and responsive, delivering a level of precision that allows you to play exactly what you imagine.

    The Yamaha CFX concert grand piano used for the sampling was tuned to perfection by a seasoned professional so that every note from the dazzling treble to the powerful bass could be recorded with care. Yamaha then meticulously adjusted each note to create a harmonious piano Voice. These thoughtful efforts resulted in a faithful simulation of colourful tone and dynamic nuance throughout all registers, and delivered a beautifully resonant sound.

    Over the decades, Yamaha has refined its digital technology through both research and development, studying the sound-producing mechanisms of grand pianos and designing pro audio equipment and sound systems.

    The knowledge derived from these efforts underpins the workings of ARIUS pianos, which appeal to both players and audiences with clear, resonant sound despite being compact digital pianos. The new diffuser grille makes treble notes even clearer, creating a pleasant, well-balanced sound field that resonates throughout all registers.

    BEAUTIFULLY SIMULATED DEPTH OF RESONANCE FROM PIANO STRINGS

    Grand pianos are known and loved for the resonant sound produced when the entire instrument vibrates.

    As a long-time manufacturer of grand pianos, Yamaha is intimately familiar with how grand pianos resonate, and funnelled its knowledge into the development of VRM Lite, which faithfully simulates the complex resonance of a grand piano when the vibrations of the strings belonging to the notes being played are transmitted to the other strings. The resonance depends on when the keys are played and how far down the pedals are depressed.

    SLIM, STYLISH DESIGN THAT BLENDS IN WITH YOUR SURROUNDINGS

    Flat when closed, the lid gives the YDP-S56 an elegant appearance and is also useful for writing scores. The design as a whole has a refined air, with gently rounded corners and other features that make the instrument safe and enjoyable for anyone to play.

    HELPFUL FEATURES FOR PRACTISING AND PERFORMING

    Yamaha has expended every effort to deliver a pleasant playing experience, even with headphones.

    The sound balance is automatically adjusted to the volume, making the output pleasant at any level. ARIUS pianos also feature a Stereophonic Optimiser that simulates the natural spread of sound as if you were sitting at an acoustic piano, rather than simply emitting sound directly into your ears, creating a more immersive playing experience.

    The menu of preset songs includes pieces from the accompanying collection of sheet music, “50 Classical Masterpieces”, as well as 303 exercises from piano method books by Beyer, Burgmüller, Czerny, and Hanon.
